Registered migration agents who represent clients at the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) must know about AAT procedures and must follow certain guidelines.
The Administrative Appeals Tribunal
The Migration and Refugee Division of the
Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) provides independent review of visa decisions.
Representing a client at the AAT
Representing a client at the AAT can be complex. Under the Code of Conduct for registered migration agents, you must consider if you are qualified to give the advice or assistance that your client is seeking. If you are unsure if you have the right knowledge or experience to represent a client at the AAT you must seek advice or assistance or refer the matter to another RMA.
To familiarise yourself with what is expected when you represent a client at the AAT, you should read the
AAT practice directions for the Migration and Refugee Division and our practice guide
representing clients at the AAT.
