You must obtain 10 continuing professional development (CPD) points each year to stay registered as a migration agent.
We recommend you complete your CPD activities at least 8 weeks before your registration is due to expire so that you have enough points needed to lodge your re-registration application. You can submit your re-registration application up to 8 weeks before your registration expires.
For exceptional circumstances that are out of your control, you may be provided with 3 months of extra time to complete your CPD.
You will need to make this request as part of your re-registration application and you must provide evidence to support your claim. Reasons such as a heavy workload, financial hardship, overseas travel, the unavailability of a preferred CPD activity or a series of activities and technical issues with computer/internet will generally not be considered as an exceptional circumstance.
If you have not completed your CPD and do not have evidence to prove that circumstances were beyond your control, your re-registration application may be refused.
Your 10 CPD points must include:
- at least 1 CPD point on either ethics or the Code of Conduct for migration agents
- at least 5 CPD points from
category A activities
You can choose to obtain the remaining required CPD points from either
category A or B activities.
